It is crucial to have a concrete vision and numerical targets for the future in order to steadily and efficiently take measures towards the early realization of a decarbonized society. Many non-state actors are working to promote reliable climate change countermeasures by having short, medium and long-term goals that include participation in Science Based Targets (SBT: an international initiative of companies that have or have committed to having climate change targets that are scientifically consistent with the Paris Agreement goals -limiting global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.).
