Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) has revised its participation criteria required of new participating members.

Since the July 2021 revision of the participation criteria, the situation surrounding climate change has changed significantly, and the actions required of non-state actors are now more strictly aligned with the 1.5°C target. In light of this, JCI has revised its participation criteria to match the current situation and aims to keep moving to the next level as a network of non-state actors who have committed to participating from Japan at the forefront of the global effort to decarbonize the world.

The new criteria will apply to applications received from today on. Existing members will be given a period of time (approximately one year) to meet the new criteria and further improve their climate actions. The JCI secretariat will follow up with and support them to confirm their compliance status.

We look forward to continuous participation of many non-state actors who are committed to ambitious goals and actions.

If your organization is interested in participating, please apply using the application form after confirming that you agree with the Declaration and that you also meet one of the following actions.
