The Japan Climate Initiative (JCI) held a press conference in Sapporo on April 12 about the release of the JCI message “Overcoming Two Crises with Renewable Energy and Carbon Pricing,” endorsed by 303 organizations.

The G7 Sapporo Ministerial Conference on Climate, Energy, and Environment will be held in Sapporo on April 15 and 16, and is expected to determine the broad outlines of strategies on how the G7 countries will confront the climate and energy crises.

At the press conference, Teisuke Suzuki, Founder and President, Network of Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs for a Sustainable Business and Energy Future, and Toru Suzuki, Chairperson of Board, Hokkaido Green Fund, who endorsed the JCI message, introduced their respective efforts and expectations toward the government. In addition, Takejiro Sueyoshi and Sergio Shigeo Kato, Co-Representatives of JCI and its secretariat organizations, conveyed the significance of releasing the JCI message on the occasion of the G7 meeting, as well as their expectations for the government.
The press conference also featured individual video messages and comments from JCI members who endorsed the message, which condensed the thoughts and expectations of the 303 endorsing organizations.

JCI will disseminate this message not only to Japan but also to the world at large so that the outcome of the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May will lead to climate change countermeasures “to Overcome Two Crises with Renewable Energy and Carbon Pricing,” as the JCI message urged the Japanese government.
