On 8th November, “Japan Climate Action Summit Declaration” was published on the Talanoa Dialogue Platform of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The declaration was first adopted at the “Japan Climate Action Summit” held on October 12. JCI Secretariat submitted the declaration to the UNFCCC secretariat along with the 171 signatories on October 29 and then it was officially admitted as an input to the Talanoa Dialogue.

The Talanoa Dialogue will be held in COP24 convened in Katowice, Poland this December as a valuable opportunity to discuss possible enhancement of ambition, expressed in nationally determined contributions (NDCs) that each country communicated to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. The inputs gathered from all over the world will form important basis for Parties to discuss the matter in the Talanoa Dialogue.

We hope that these inputs including the “Japan Climate Action Summit Declaration” will lead to a strong outcome to call for Parties to enhance ambition.
